Celebration of the Kwanmukan

2012 Anderson Kwanmukan Cup Rules

1)      The cup will be Friday for Black Belts as part of the Extravaganza and Saturday for kyu ranks as part of the banquet events.

2)      All Kwanmukan Black Belts are automatically entered provided they pay for and attend the Kwanmukan Symposium or Black Belt Extravaganza.

3)      All Kyu ranks that pay for and attend the Saturday night banquet or Kwanmukan Symposium are automatically entered. Thus there is no limitation the number from a dojo in a particular age group or division.

4)      Referees will be chosen from the senior 6th Dans and above.

5)      One special cup trophy will be given to each winner per each division.

6)      Divisions are by age and include males and females

7)      All competitors will wear blue belts during the entire competition to disguise rank. We will permit dojo patches on the uniform but prefer a Kwanmukan patch.

8)      Competitors/Divisions will be and will present as follows. These divisions are the same for each both Kyu and Dan competition. Brown belts may petition to compete on Friday night in lieu of Saturday night.

a)      Age 6-7 - two Kwanbu and choice of Taikyoku Shodan or Heian Shodan

b)      Age 8-9 - two Kwanbu and choice of Taikyoku Shodan or Heian Shodan or Heian Nidan

c)      Age 10-12 - two Kwanbu and choice of two kata from Heian 1-4 or Kwanmu 1

d)      Age 13-14 - Black Belt - two Kwanbu and Kwanmu 1 and 2 or choice of one kata from Heian 1-5 in lieu of one Kwanmu, Kyu may substitute kata from Heian 1-5 in lieu of Kwanmu.

e)      Age 15-17 - Black Belt - three Kwanbu and Kwanmu 1 and 2 and choice of one advanced kata for final round only in lieu of one Kwanmu, Kyu may substitute kata from Heian 1-5 in lieu of Kwanmu.

f)       Adult 18-35 – Black Belt - three Kwanbu and Kwanmu 1,2,3, and 4 in final round only, Kyu may substitute kata from Heian 1-5 in lieu of Kwanmu.

g)      Adult 35-55 – Black Belt - three Kwanbu and Kwanmu 1,2,3, and 4 in final round only, Kyu may substitute kata from Heian 1-5 in lieu of Kwanmu.

h)      Adult 55+ – Black Belt - three Kwanbu and Kwanmu 1,2,3, and 4 in final round only, Kyu may substitute kata from Heian 1-5 in lieu of Kwanmu.

9)      We reserve the right to establish additional divisions if numbers warrant it.

10)  If there are only enough for round one, then that round will be considered the final round.

11)  The number of techniques in the Kwanbu for up to and including age 12 may not exceed 3 techniques. For all other divisions the number of techniques may not exceed 5 techniques.

12)  Items not covered under these rules will be determined by the Shihan Board.
