Sgt. Robert Magnuson Scholarship for Law Enforcement Officers

The Kwanmukan International sponsors a scholarship for police officers involved with the martial arts. This scholarship provides for the cost to attend the Kwanmukan International Symposium and covers the symposium cost which also included those meals provided to symposium attendees including the annual banquet. Travel, board and other items are not covered. It is intended to recognize those who work in a dangerous environment and train in the martial arts or who train others in the martial arts.

This scholarship has been established in the honor of Sgt. Robert Magnuson, a long time martial arts leader and law enforcement officer who died in a parachute accident in 2007. This memorial has been established to perpetuate both his memory and his love of martial arts. Martial Arts to Sgt. Magnuson was necessary to law enforcement and to the search for self-improvement. Sgt. Magnuson was also a highly respected and talented martial artist and police officer and is best know nationally for his development of the STOPS program for police officers.
